McIntosh targets new addition to centre of defence

Martin McIntosh says he is still in the market for a new centre-back ahead of the start of the new season.

The Bucks chief goes into the campaign with a solid squad of 18 players.

However should suspensions or injuries kick in then the defence looks set to be hit the hardest.

Tim Ryan and Ash Palmer have been mainstays as a central defensive partnership during pre-season but McIntosh has hinted at the need for extra cover in that area.

He said: “I am looking for extra cover at the back because I’ve only got Tim (Ryan) and Ash (Palmer) really.

“We have players that can cover there if need be but ideally I’d like to get someone else in.”

When quizzed on whether his search was likely to bear fruition any time soon, McIntosh says he is hopeful of a positive result.

He said: “There’s a few possibilities, and we’re still waiting to hear back from somebody but we just have to wait and see.

“I, like all managers, would love more players but I have a budget to adhere to.”
