The manager said: “Not everyone can play in every single match.

“We have a massive schedule and especially since the league was extended.

“We’ve got 46 league games plus all the various cup competitions to think about.

“I know the players understand that if they are left out then it’s nothing personal.

“Like I say there’s lot of games for people to force their way in.”

McIntosh, whose side were in action against Worksop last night, also praised the side for clinching a first clean sheet at the Silverlands against Skelmersdale last weekend.

The 2-0 victory was the first time Andy Warrington has kept a shut-out at home.

McIntosh added: “I was very happy that we were able to get a clean sheet.

“We’ve played nine games now and I honestly can say we haven’t been outplayed once.”
