McGreal sees similarities between Colchester and Chesterfield ahead of FA Cup tie

Colchester United head coach John McGreal sees similarities between his own side's fortunes and those of Chesterfield ahead of their FA Cup showdown.

Saturday’s first round tie will see the Spireites, who have lost their last seven in all competitions, take on a Colchester side without a win in League Two since September 10.

“We’ve had them watched and it looks like they’re in a similar position to ourselves,” said McGreal.

“Like us, they’re performing well but not getting the results they deserve.

“We’re under no illusions, though.

“They’re from the division above and it’s always nice to test yourself against opposition from a higher level.

“It’ll be interesting to see how we fare against League One opposition.”
