Dronfield Town never really recovered from a slow start as they were beaten by Eccleshill United in the NCEL.
Town conceded a goal in the second minute, before conceding two more in the first half.
From that point the mountain was always going to be difficult to climb.
Sam Bebbington’s goal straight after the break gave Town hope, but a fourth from Eccleshill more or less killed the game. Harley Wilson notched a consolation for Town in the last minute.
Town Reserves welcomed Easington United to Gosforth hoping to claim their first victory of the season in the Central Midlands League North Division but found themselves 1-0 down after five minutes due to poor defending.
Ash Ryecroft’s strike put Town level, but a defensive mix up let in Easington for a second goal.
Wayne Garrity then deservedly levelled things up for Town before half-time.
Town completely dominated the secnd half and Wayne Garrity made it 3-2.
The game should have been dead and buried as Town wasted a host of chances to put the game to bed and then paid the price, when Easington equalised from the penalty spot.
It was one point for Town which should have definitely been three.
