Local derby match in honour of youngster

Buxton fans will have their first chance to see this season’s new under-19s squad at The Silverlands on Wednesday, August 14.

This season’s new crop of players will be defending the trophy they won last year when they take on league rivals Matlock (7.45pm) in what has become an annual pre-season clash in memory of young Matlock footballer Jack O’Dare.

Following successive promotions since their formation two years ago, the Young Bucks are preparing for the new season and the challenge of playing in the top division of the North Midlands Under-19s League.

Manager Dave Bradbury said: “This year’s group is probably the strongest we’ve had so far and I’m very hopeful of a successful season in the top flight.”

Tickets are priced at £4 adults, £2 concessions with all proceeds going to the Jack O’Dare Memorial Fund.
