Lester feels a run of results is on its way
Jack Lester feels Chesterfield aren't far away from putting together a run of good results as they aim to climb up the League Two table.
The Spireites sit five points adrift at the bottom of the league and face a tough trip to fifth-placed Swindon on Saturday.
But as Lester continues to make his mark as manager, he feels his methods are beginning to bear fruit.
He said: “The mentality of the group is improving, the way they’ve responded to the demands we put on them is fantastic.
“I think the lads are getting fitter and sharper, I don’t think we’re to far away from putting good results together.
“Teams will try and work you out so it’s important we are fluid and unpredictable in our attacks.
“We were disappointed with the goals we conceded at Bradford, they were sloppy and we’ll be working on trying to stop that happening.
“Swindon will be a very tough game but it’s one that we’re relishing.”
On the fitness front, question marks hang over a couple of the Spireites troops while another, Jerome Binnom-Williams, is gradually making his way back to fitness and featured in a behind-closed-doors game on Tuesday.
Lester said: “Jerome came through the game on Tuesday really well, we’ll keep building his fitness and sharpness. When he’s back I’m sure he’ll be like having a new signing.
“Games like that are vital for players who are coming back from injury and not playing, we’ll try to arrange more.
“Chris O’Grady has had a tight calf and hasn’t trained. Matt Briggs has trained again and that’s a positive.”
