Although Stourbridge extended their lead over Town, their victory over play-off hopefuls Whitby Town will please the Matlock faithful. A comfortable 3-1 win was enough to remain above Nantwich who still have a game in hand.

Nantwich gathered up three points of their own after beating Hednesford Town away from home. Despite going a goal down in the third minute, Nantwich clawed back to stay over the shoulder of Stourbridge.

The scrap for survival at the bottom of the table saw Frickley Athletic and Marine given the chance to pull away from the bottom four, with Skelmersdale United, Ilkeston and Sutton Coldfield Town out of action.

The stage was set at the Marine Travel Arena for one of the sides to ease their relegation woes. In a game of many goals, neither came out on top as it finished 3-3, doing either team no good.

Two games this week fell victim to the weather. Many football grounds felt the full force of Storm Doris, with both Skelmersdale and Buxton’s matches being postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

The race for the play-offs is becoming tighter as the business end of the season approaches. Just eight points separate 2nd place to 13th place.

The only side to pick up a win in the chasing pack was Warrington Town who defeated Coalville Town 2-1.

Grantham Town, Workington, Spennymoor Town, Rushall Olympic and Barwell all dropped points, with all of these sides only managing to claim a draw over the weekend.
