When asked how proud he would be to be appointed manager he said: “I enjoy working here, the players have been good.

“I would like to do it but like I say it is hard to get enthusiastic about it because I haven’t really given it a thought.

“I have got so many things that I need to get right before I get to that point and my biggest one is getting us out of the bottom four and staying in this division.

“I am emotionally attached to this at the moment.

“I have had opportunities while I have been here with other jobs but there is an attachment that I wanted to finish and that is what my focus is on.”

Pemberton also believes the connection between the supporters and the players is growing.

He added. “The biggest thing is the connection the supporters are starting to get back with the team. That was important for me when I came in to do that.

“We always want the players to have a go, show honesty and show enthusiasm with a desire to win a football match.”
