Chesterfield appear to be growing in belief and Pemberton says he is now sensing a change that perhaps was not there before he arrived.

When asked what he wants to see from his team against Ebbsfleet Pemberton said: “Initially we have to start well and show enthusiasm.

“We have been training at a good tempo.

“We have got a desire in us to try to win football matches.

“I think the players are certainly in a better place mentally and as a group than they were maybe six weeks ago.

“I can just get a sense of it in training that they are starting to look forward to playing the games now.

“But we all know one poor performance can then knock you backwards.”

The Blues have won two and drawn one of Pemberton’s three home games but face an Ebbsfleet side who are unbeaten in four.

“We have done quite well at home in the games we have had,” he added.

“We have to impose ourselves on the opposition and do what we have been doing.

“We have been good we just need to eliminate the silly errors that we have been making every now and again.”
