Tyson, on loan from Notts County, came off the bench just before the hour-mark and scored a superb 23-minute hat-trick – his sixth of his career.

The 37-year-old goes into the history books as the first Chesterfield player to score a hat-trick after coming on as a substitute.

Curtis Weston added a fourth late on to seal all three points.

The Blues remain in the relegation zone but are only three points from mid-table.

Pemberton said: “I am pleased for him because he is a good pro, he has looked after himself over the years.

“I have known him for a long time. I know what he is capable of doing.

“You can see why we brought him in.

“I am really pleased he got his hat-trick. The first goal was a big platform for us.

“I know he is a good impact player, I know he will make a difference to us.

“It will be difficult to leave him out of the next game now!”

The first-half was uneventful and Pemberton was not happy with how his team started the game.

“I almost made a change after 20 minutes but I stopped myself doing it.

“I said at half-time that if it does not change in the next five or 10 minutes I am going to change it because I felt I needed to. I did not want it to drag out and drag out.

“It was a scrappy first-half but I still thought we were the better team and I did not want it to carry on like that and the fans get frustrated and we get frustrated.”

The Spireites caretaker manager was delighted with the four goals but it was his team’s defensive work that impressed him most.

“I think the three centre-backs today is probably their best game,” he added.

“The clean sheet is massive because our goal difference is not great.

“This team has been tarnished with being a soft touch and I think we are slowly getting away from that.”
