The former Reading scholar bagged his first goal for the club during their 3-2 defeat at home to Leek Town in their last game before the lockdown..

And, although disappointed with defeat, Wilson was happy with his contribution.

“It is always a shame when it’s a consolation goal,” he said. “I would have preferred it to be a match winner, but It was a nice personal moment for me.

“I managed to get in a good pre-season and I am really enjoying my time here.

“It's a brilliant club, I’ve never seen a fanbase like it for this level.

“I'm just happy to be here and want to keep putting good performances in.”

Wilson, who is a University of Nottingham student, joined the club following a spell with Hayes and Yeading at the start of the year..

He is now preparing for at least one month out of football and knows staying sharp and ready will be key.

“It is frustrating as a player,” he added. “It is a tricky period and it’s about self motivation and keeping fit.

“We have to stick to the plans the boss has set us. We have to keep fit so we can hit the ground running when we come back.

“At the start of the season you target games like Leek and Stamford as ones you need to get points from.

“Defeat hurts but we have a break now and the games will come thick and fast when we come back.

“It is a long season ahead so there are plenty of chances to pick up points.”
