"If we are at it, it will be game on" - John Pemberton warns Chesterfield they will have to be at their best to beat Harrogate Town

Chesterfield will have to be at their very best to get a positive result against high-flying Harrogate Town on Tuesday, according to Spireites boss John Pemberton.

The visitors to the Proact tomorrow night are second in the National League and arrive on the back of four straight wins.

But the Blues have only lost one of their last six and Pemberton believes they can beat the North Yorkshire side as long as everybody sticks to their jobs.

“I believe we can win,” Pemberton said.

“Everybody has got to be at it, we can’t carry two or three players tomorrow or we will get beat.

“If we are not at it we will lose the game. If we are at it, it will be game on.

“We have got to play as well as we have played to get anything from the game because I think they are that good.

“What we have got to do is make sure every player plays well which is going to be important and that and every player does their job and be disciplined and if they do we will be alright.”

A win or a draw for Chesterfield will move them out of the relegation zone for the first time in three months but the Spireites have only beaten one team in the current top 13 in the division so far this season.

On facing a tough test against Harrogate, Pemberton said: “It will certainly give us an idea of how we are competing.

“Probably eight weeks ago it would have been a bit more daunting of a task but with the way we have been might give us a better platform, bit more of a feelgood factor going into the game a bit more belief because we have had some decent results but they are a good team.”

Simon Weaver’s Harrogate were taken to extra-time by AFC Fylde on Saturday in the FA Trophy, eventually winning 3-2, while Chesterfield did not play. But Pemberton does not think that will give his players any advantage.

“They left seven of their players out so they have rested all their players and that is a compliment I think to us,” Pemberton added. “I take that as a compliment to us that they felt that they needed to rest their players because of this game we are going to have on Tuesday.

"They are a very good side. I have probably seen them about four or five times this season. They do what they do very well. They have got good players, they work very hard for each other. You can see why they are up there."
