Goals from Gavin Gunning, Marcus Dinanga and George Carline, all from Tom Whelan corners, put Town in a commanding position at half-time despite Charlie’s Cooper’s penalty for the hosts.
Jack Clarke added a fourth with two minutes to go to seal all three points for the Blues.
The one negative was an injury to Fraser Kerr, who hobbled off in the first-half with an ankle problem.

9. Tom Whelan 7
Good to see him back in the side. All three goals in the first-half came from his delivery from corners. Swung in another one after the break which Carline should have buried. Hopefully a sign he is getting back to his best. Came off for Clarke with 15 minutes to go. Photo: Craig Brough/AHPIX LTD
Started his first game for a long time and repaid Rowe's faith in him with his first goal for Chesterfield, scrambling in from close-range from Whelan's corner to make it 2-0. Took up a position mainly wide left. On another day he could have had a hat-trick, saw a one-on-one saved and should have buried a header early after the break. Photo: Dean Atkins
Some of his shooting was off the mark but he played some clever passes and grabbed a nice assist for Clarke to finish for the fourth. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
Got his chance after Kerr went off injured. Came on at right-back and deserves praise for the job he did. Produced a great cross in the second-half which Dinanga should have headed in. Photo: Andrew Roe/AHPIX LTD
