The midfielder was forced off in the game against Crewe, and has missed the last three matches.

Although he was back in training today, Danny Wilson said there was no chance of him being available for selection on Saturday for the visit of Walsall.

But the upside of the Australian’s absence has meant an opportunity for Ollie Banks to come to the fore.

Wilson said: “I think Ollie’s problem was that he had been injured, with niggles here and there when I came in, he hadn’t played many games, hardly trained.

“He wasn’t fit to play, so when he was, he was fortunate and Chris Herd was unfortunate to get injured, and Ollie took his chance.

“He seems to be getting stronger. He’s played very well.”

And the manager is keen to remind his squad that chances will arise in the final stages of the season.

“There’s going to be a part to play for every player at the club in and around the first team,” he said.
