Former Liverpool and Leeds United man Harry Kewell sacked by Naional League Barnet
Barnet have sacked head coach Harry Kewell after just seven games in charge.
The former Liverpool and Leeds United player was appointed by the Bees in the summer but they are winless so far this season and sit second bottom of the National League.
They have lost five of their seven matches, including a 4-2 defeat to Chesterfield last Tuesday.
Assistant manager Paul Butler has left with immediate effect along with Kewell.
He is the second National League manager to be sacked today after Aldershot Town parted company with Danny Searle.
Barnet’s head of football, Dean Brennan, said: “It was clear how much Harry Kewell wanted to have a positive impact, but ultimately the results and the poor start to the season have dictated our decision.
“The plan for this season was to be challenging in the top half of the table and that is still very much our aim.”
Brennan will temporarily take charge of first-team matters until an appointment is made.
