Former Chesterfield striker Jordan Bowery signs for Mansfield Town
Former Chesterfield striker Jordan Bowery has signed for Mansfield Town.
Bowery made his debut for the Spireites when he was 17 and scored 17 goals in 102 appearances before joining Premier League Aston Villa in 2012 for a fee of about £500,000.
His move to Villa Park did not work out and he signed for Rotherham United two years later and has since played for Oxford United, Leyton Orient, Crewe Alexandra and MK Dons.
On joining the Stags, the 28-year-old said: “I will work as hard as anyone. I’m athletic, powerful, like to run in behind, control and hold up the ball. I’ll do whatever it takes to get a goal and work hard for the team.”
The signing of Bowery comes as Mansfield are also being linked with another former Town striker in Eoin Doyle whose contract at Swindon Town expires at the end of this month.
