Football: Central Midlands League round-up

Pride of place this midweek goes to Blidworth Welfare, who joined Pinxton in round two of the FA Vase after a stunning 6-0 win over step six side St Andrews, currently third in the East Midlands Counties League.

Blidworth took a two-goal lead into the break and proceeded to overwhelm their visitors in the second half as they added four more.

The goals were shared between Keenan Leeds, Max Curzon and Gareth Curtis who all scored twice.

Blidworth now face Shirebrook Town at home on November 21.

Belper United returned to the top of the Black Dragon Badges South division, putting six goals past Mickleover RBL at Christchurch Meadow.

Ben Stockley found the net four times with Sam Vickers adding the other two.

Pinxton also hit the goal trail with a 5-0 win over Holbrook St Michaels.

Chris Gilson scored twice, Josh Madin, Glen Fidler and Kurtis Bamford also on target.

Another 6-0 result at Phoenix Park, but this time the away team finished on top as Harworth Colliery beat struggling Dinnington Town.

Marley Alder scored two, Greg Archer put away two penalties with the other strikes coming from Loouis Reed and Tommy Durrant.

This result lifts Harworth up into third place in the table.

Askern bounced back from Saturday’s defeat by winning 3-1 against Thorne Colliery. Gareth Collinson, Michael Attard and an own goal won it for Askern, Glynn Powell replying for Thorne.
