FC Bolsover march on in League Cup past Millers

For the second time in three weeks Clay Cross Town and FC Bolsover met to lock horns in a local derby - and for the second time Bolsover ran out 5-1 winners.

However, on this occasion, it was in the League Cup and on a 4G surface.

Both teams attacked from the outset but it was the home striker, Josh Parfitt, who opened the scoring after just seven minutes.

The Clay Cross response though was positive and six minutes later Lee Clay pulled the game back level.

It was the industrious Parfitt who once again eluded his defender on the half hour and fired home confidently and this took the hosts into a half-time lead.

The second half was an end-to-end affair but goals from Danny Russell and a brace from Josh Thomas in a 20-minute spell sealed the victory for Bolsover and their passage into round two.

This Saturday the Millers entertain Welbeck Lions FC at Mill Lane while FC Bolsover travel to Dronfield Town Reserves. Both 3pm kick-offs.
