Dronfield Town edged out in tense affair


Dronfield Town’s mini-revival ended on Saturday in a 2-1 defeat to Winterton Rangers in NCEL Division One.

The north Derbyshire based outfit were unbeaten in three games going in to Saturday’s clash in Scunthorpe.

Dan Barnsley gave Dronfield a fifth minute lead before Josh Batty responded just before the half-hour mark.

Luke Anderson grabbed what proved to be the winner 20 minutes from time to extend the gap between themselves, fourth from bottom and Dronfield one place below, to 11 points.

Dronfield welcome Shirebrook Town to Stonelow on Saturday (3pm kick off).
