College eager to put it right in Derby clash

Chesterfield College Women’s Football team kicked off their season with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Bilborough College in Nottingham.

Bilborough took the lead in the first half but were pegged back by a fine strike from Emma Gibbion, who rifled in a shot from 25 yards into the bottom corner.

Despite numerous chances in the second half to win the game, it was the away side who snatched victory in the closing stages, leaving Chesterfield to lick their wounds and prepare for an away league fixture at Derby College.

Meanwhile the college’s netball team resumed training on Thursday in preparation for the winter Chesterfield Netball League.

Training takes place in the sports hall at Chesterfield College from 4.30pm until 6pm and league fixtures are played on a weekly basis on a Thursday evening.
