The Blues’ FA Trophy fifth round tie against Aldershot Town on Saturday was called off one hour before kick-off after it emerged an unnamed player had developed Covid-19 symptoms and was awaiting the result of a PCR antigen test.

On Sunday the club confirmed a positive result had been returned and that a 10-day isolation period would commence.

An announcement regarding Chesterfield’s involvement in the FA Trophy, following the postponement of Saturday’s tie, will be made soon.

Town’s next three league fixtures against Aldershot Town, Eastleigh and FC Halifax Town have all been postponed and will be rearranged.

Chesterfield cannot train as a group until early next week and their next league match will be Notts County away on February 20.

The Spireites have already had to isolate over the Christmas period and in January following positive tests.
