Chesterfield Sunday League: Wingerworth remain rooted to foot of Division One table

Wingerworth BMB remain bottom of Chesterfield & District Sunday League Division One following a 2-0 defeat at the hands of current champions FC Britannia.

Both sides were clearly lacking match practice but goals from Alex Hewett and Billy Page won it for Britannia.

The only other ONE side in action were Doe Lea who entertained TWO front runners FC Utd of Bolsover in the Dey and Co Alma Cup and exited the competition as two Josh Sculley goals sent Utd through to the next round.

In TWO, a 5-0 win over West End Killamarsh by New Whitt reduced Utd’s lead at the top of the table to six points. Matt Robson scored twice as Clowne Wanderers Reserves remain third after beating Brampton Rovers 2-0. Behind Wanderers are Dronfield Victoria who beat Crispin Casuals by the odd goal in five.

Renishaw MW continue to dominate THREE as goals from Michael Aldread who scored two and Danny Talbot earned them a 3-1 victory at Pilsley Community giving them a ten point advantage at the top. AFC North Wingfield won for only the second time in the league this season and it was an emphatic 6-3 victory over Brimington Utd and Matt Towndrow was in fine form, scoring four goals with James Senior and Chris Collins on target too.

In FOUR, Crown Killamarsh are ahead of Brampton Rovers at the top on goal difference following a 1-0 victory over lowly Club FC.

Rovers also won, beating Brampton Oaks Sports 3-1. Butchers Arms won 3-0 at Brimington Utd Shoes to move above Oak Sports into third place, Mark Woods scoring twice, Lee Shelton once.

In a close fought affair at Lowgates New All Inn and AFC Castle shred the points in a six goal game with the Castle goalkeeper preventing All Inn taking all three points as he saved a Mick Nash penalty three minutes from time.

Glapwell Gladiators won for the second time in seven days in FIVE with player manager Dave Canning on target along with Lim Pashley and Liam Spencer in the 3-0 defeat of Harleys Scarlets.

A Declan Jenkins goal proved to be enough to earn Britannia Rose three points as they beat Gate Inn North Wingfield whilst Royal Oak Rangers and Dronfield Wanderers played out a thrilling seven goal game which the former won 4-3.

In SIX Pete Stubley hit five goals for Furnace Hill Hurricanes seven days earlier and scored two more this time out as his side hammered Castle Arms 7-1, Neil Hollingworth who also scored twice.

Dronfield Town’s clash with leaders Brimington Club was the only game in SEVEN and club won it by five goals to one. On target for Club were Reece Nuttall who scored twice, Paul Buxton, Luke Reid and Lewis Siddall. The win moves them six points clear of Darley Dale Red Star who have four games in hand.

In NAPIT FOUR Duckmanton Community have yet to win a game however in the Chatsworth Cup on Sunday they beat THREE strugglers New Inn Tupton 4-3 after extra time, the game being deadlocked at 3-3 after ninety minutes. Two goals from Steve Yates plus a third from Josh Nicholls secured Bolsover Town a place in the next round of the competition at the expense of Spartans whom they beat by three goals to one. In SIX Evolution are four places and fourteen points better off than Palterton Sporting Club but form counted for little as Sporting beat them 4-3 in the Hutson Cup, Will Holmes scoring twice, John Riley and Alan Eggleston once.
