Chesterfield ready for 15 '˜massive' games insists Caldwell

Town salvaged a point thanks to Tom Anderson’s 90th minute equaliser, but still remain second from bottom in League One, six points adrift from safety.

Caldwell was delighted not to lose in midweek, but that point will mean little if they don’t go out and beat fellow strugglers Bury at home on Saturday.

“(Saturday is) massive,” he said. “Points are only good if you back them up with wins.

“Whilst we’ll enjoy this, the players deserve that because it’s been a tough few weeks, we have to regroup and focus on Saturday, which is a huge game at the Proact.

“We need the fans to take the belief for tonight, come out in big numbers and get behind the team on Saturday as well.”

Caldwell was buoyed by what he saw from his young team at Priestfield Stadium, especially in light of the club’s precarious position.

“I still think we can improve in a lot of areas and we’ll work hard to do that.

“I see a lot of potential in this group of players.

“We’re in a difficult position. (But) the spirit they showed tonight gives me great encouragement because we’re going to need that in the next 15 games.

“They’re fantastic to work with, they apply themselves every day, listen to what we’re trying to do.

“There’s 15 massive games and they’re ready for this challenge.”

Goals will be key in the run in and Tuesday’s wasfrom the unlikeliest of sources.

Caldwell was overjoyed for Burnley loanee Anderson: “He’s a young player with a great future, he gives everything every day and when you work as hard as he does you deserve breaks like that.”
