Transfer activity in and out of Chesterfield will slow down now as the Spireites head into a hectic fixture schedule during the festive period, says manager James Rowe.

Five new faces have arrived through the door and three have departed since Rowe was appointed last month.

Akwasi Asante, Tom Whelan, Jak McCourt, George Carline and Joel Taylor have all come in, while Milan Butterfield and Luke Rawson have headed out on loan and Alex Kiwomya has left the club.

When asked by the DT if any other incomings or outgoings were close, Rowe said: “No, the movement will slow right down now. It is about what we have got in the group now. We have got enough quality in there to keep building and anything is possible this year.”

McCourt scored his first goal in his second spell at the club against Barnet and picked up two assists in the game.

The midfielder, 25, signed on a month-to-month basis and that remains the case.

“He just needs to keep doing what he is doing and that will take care of itself,” Rowe said.

One player who is yet to feature under the new boss is Jamie Sharman.

The centre-half was heavily involved under previous manager John Pemberton but the 19-year-old is yet to make a matchday squad since he left.

So could he go out on loan?

“He could do but let’s just see what happens over the Christmas period,” Rowe said.

“We have got five or six games in something like 19 days.

“We need numbers. We have got to make sure we don’t leave ourselves short over this period. “
