That is according to Spireites boss James Rowe who has signed him for the second time in a matter of months after bringing him to the Technique Stadium from his former club Gloucester City.

The pair worked together for fourth months at the National League North club before they both made the switch to north Derbyshire.

Carline, 27, signed and started for the Blues on the same day against Sutton United and Rowe was pleased with his performance.

“He (Carline) goes under the radar a bit,” Rowe said.

“He is very consistent in what he does on and off the pitch.

“He is a great human being. I am so glad to have him in the building.

“He is versatile. His performance against Sutton sums him up. He was right wing-back and he did really well and then he came across to the left wing-back and kept Sutton’s winger quiet the last 25 minutes so I was really pleased with him. To go from left-back to right-back and adapt like that just shows what he is about.”

Carline’s versatility will be a big bonus for Town but Rowe thinks his best position is down the right side.

“I think his best position is where he started on Tuesday, either as a right-back or a right wing-back but he can play as a right forward as well,” he said.

“He is good physically in the air, he is very good defensively and also he has got legs to get up and down

“It makes me laugh because he never gets a man of the match or perhaps the pat on the back he deserves because is always a 7/10 but you need those players as well.

“He brings a different dimension to us and he allows our other players to play with their weapons if that makes sense.”

Fellow defender Joel Taylor, 24, was another new signing in the line-up against Sutton after only finding out he was eligible to play a couple of hours before kick-off.

"As the game went on Joel grew stronger.” Rowe added. “We actually found out he was able to play at 5pm so that is not easy for anyone.”
