Chesterfield make fourth summer signing with experienced goalkeeper

The 32-year-old joins after being released by League Two Salford City, where he kept 11 clean sheets in 22 appearances in all competitions last season.

The Welshman, who started his career at Swansea City, won the Scottish League Cup with Kilmarnock in 2012, Scottish Championship with Dundee in 2014 as well as being named the supporters’ player of the season. He also won the FA Trophy with York City in 2017.

Letheren said: "I'm delighted to be here and I can't wait to get going. Hopefully we can be at the right end of the table."

John Pemberton added: "We monitored him last year and we're delighted to have him.

"Kyle has valuable experience and we feel that he's one for the next few years.”

Letheren’s father Glan, who was also a goalkeeper, played for Chesterfield under Arthur Cox in the late 1970s.
