His hometown club, the one he has supported since he was a boy, is celebrating a return to the Premier League and although they achieved it while he was plying his trade at the Proact, he couldn’t be happier.

“It’s been a great season for Burnley obviously,” said the 22-year-old.

“They won the league against Charlton, a week after clinching promotion so I think they’ve been having a good time.

“It’s a great achievement for the club.

“I always supported them from a young age, went to games, I was a massive fan and all my mates are Burnley fans.

“As I’ve got a bit older and started to try and play for the club I’ve obviously had to be a bit calmer about it, I can’t be going up to players like a fan, like I would have done when I was younger.

“But being a Burnley lad, I’m very happy.”

The 2015/16 season done and dusted, players are entering that glorious time of the year when they don’t have to make training and fitness a priority.

That phase doesn’t last for long, admits Anderson, who is already eyeing the start of the next campaign having featured 18 times for Chesterfield since his loan move began on 1st February.

“This week I’ll be taking advantage of my lie ins, maybe have a few treats to eat and enjoy some time off but then I’ll be working myself back into it to stay in good shape for pre-season,” he said.

“It’s tough at Burnley, you can’t go back out of shape.”
