A number of Spireites supporters had complained about a £1 booking fee that was added to ticket purchases made over the internet.

The club’s company secretary Ashley Carson is keen to see more fans purchasing their match tickets online to lessen the burden on the Proact ticket office.

He understands why supporters were unhappy with the booking fee that previously applied and has also vowed to ensure tickets bought online are not more expensive on matchdays than those purchased at the ground.

“Following recent comments made by fans to Chris Turner and I, we have taken the decision to remove the £1 booking fee on all website ticket purchases,” he said.

“The negative comments received are totally justified and although Toptix make a charge for ‘printing at home’, this will now be absorbed by the club.

“We would like to encourage fans to purchase tickets online. We have a very small ticket office team and we hope that this gesture helps.

“There will also be no increase on matchday tickets purchased via the internet on matchdays.”

This change has already taken effect and includes the Sheffield United online ticket sales, which are now live.
