Chesterfield hope to complete permanent deal for new player before weekend

Speaking at his pre-match press conference this afternoon, the Spireites boss revealed that the player in question has been training with the club.

On the new signing, Pemberton said: “I think we are close.

“Hopefully we can get something before the weekend.

“I am going to do a little bit more work this afternoon with it and see if we can get something sorted so fingers crossed we will get something over the line before the weekend.”

He added: “We have got to make sure they are right for us.

“I just want people to be here for the right reasons.

“I have to look at where we need cover, or help, and what the dynamics of our team is and the group so I want to get it right.

“I don’t have a big budget so what I don’t want to do is get it wrong so that is where we are with it.

“I just want to make sure it is right for both parties so that if it does happen we can then hit the ground running.

“The player that I am looking at will be a permanent deal.

“He has actually been working with us.

“Hopefully I will know more tomorrow.”

Pemberton also said that they will not be appealing Scott Boden’s red against Hartlepool United on Tuesday night.
