We understand the 36-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of June, is on the radar of Boreham Wood.

Jalal is keen to remain at the Spireites next season but has received a “good offer” to go to the Hertfordshire club, we are told.

Boreham are set to be involved in the play-offs and are keen on bringing in the experienced stopper.

The play-offs have yet to be rubber-stamped but it looks likely they will go ahead.

An official announcement will be made once clubs have submitted their votes on the National League’s resolution by 5pm today.

Boreham would finish fifth on the points per game (PPG) method and will face FC Halifax Town.

Jalal would be able to join on a free transfer once his contract expires on June 30.

Chesterfield, like most other clubs, have been forced to delay re-signing players because of the pandemic, as well as uncertainty of the takeover and not knowing when the 2020/2021 will definitely start.

New deals have been offered “in principle” to five players but none have been officially confirmed.

In an interview in 2018 Jalal said he was going to retire before Chesterfield offered him a two-year deal.

Earlier this month we reported how he was still hopeful of earning a new contract at Town but was open minded about what his future holds for him.

He made 31 appearances this season, keeping six clean sheets.
