Two trialists cut loose


Chesterfield FC have cut loose two trailists who have been training with the first-team squad for the last two weeks.

Spireites manager John Sheridan has decided not to pursue his interest in two Lloyd Saxton and Danny Pilkington.

Saxton, formerly a goalkeeper with Bradford City and ex-Stockport striker Pilkington - who have both been involved in Chesterfield’s pre-season friendlies - will now have to looks elsewhere if they continue their professional football careers.

Sheridan said: “Taking a look at potential recruits is what pre-season is all about but on this occasion we have decided not to pursue our interest in the two lads

“Both players acquitted themselves well and we wish them all the best for the future.”
