Kristian Dennis and Chesterfield didn’t get too carried away following their midweek heroics at Crawley, but they’ll keep that game in mind today.
The Spireites leading scorer grabbed his eighth of the season in a 2-0 victory over Crawley – ending an 11-game League Two winless streak.
Today they’ll attempt to make it back-to-back wins for the first time since November 2016.
Dennis admits the midweek win will count for little if they fall back into old ways this afternoon.
“We’ll keep bits of Tuesday in our mind knowing how well we played,” he said.
“It was a great result but it doesn’t mean anything if we don’t go to Cambridge and get a result.
“All the other teams have won around us, we need to string a run of results together and push up the table.
“We’ve got to go there and get something.
“If we get two wins in a row we can really build on it.”
Dennis’ six league goals put him just ahead of the top scorer for today’s hosts, Uche Ikpeazu who has five to his name.
