Chesterfield 0, Hull City 2
Chesterfield ended their programme of warm-up games with a clash against Hull at a sun-drenched B2net.
Goals in either half led to a 2-0 defeat and Blues chief John Sheridan criticised his players.
He said: “We could have played a lot better. I was not happy with the performance. We never got going and they wanted to win more than us’’
Veteran striker Jack Lester returned to the starting line-up and there was another outing for Rohan Ricketts, the former Spurs, Wolves and Barnsley man.
Hull’s Matty Fryatt hit the Chesterfield bar inside 60 seconds and he fired in the Tigers first goal in the 26th minute capping a build-up down Chesterfield’s right.
James Chester made it 2-0 to the visitors with a looping header after 72 minutes.
New Spireites keeper Greg Fleming came on in the 78th minute and had to be alert to make a diving save to keep out a snap shot from James Harper.
