Chesterfield FC have signed Manchester City defender Javan Vidal on a five-week loan deal.
Vidal (21), an England Youth international, operates at right-back but he can also play on the right side of midfield.
His signing bolsters the Spireites defensive options at the start of a very busy period with two games a week coming up.
A graduate of the Manchester City Academy, the 21 year old has been on loan with Grimsby Town and Derby County, and has had a 13-game loan spell in the Scottish Premier League at Aberdeen.
Vidal, who goes into John Sheridan’s squad for Saturday’s match at Shrewsbury, made his professional debut playing for Grimsby Town against Chesterfield at Saltergate in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in September, 2008.
Sheridan has been searching for an additional right-back since loanee Jack Hunt returned to Huddersfield Town earlier this month.
Vidal, who with be at the B2net until Saturday, February 26, will have the squad number of 31.
