The Spireites head to London hoping to build on an impressive start to their Sky Bet League One campaign.
Dean Saunders’ troops will be looking for maximum points after enjoying a full week off from competitive action.
Since then, Saunders has dipped into the transfer market with Liam O’Neill joining from Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.
O’Neill could debut against the Lions, although that may depend on the fitness of loanee Lee Novak who picked up a facial injury in the goalless draw with Rochdale last week.
As for Saturday’s hosts, they have endured a poor start to life back in the third tier and haven’t won since the opening day.
They beat Shrewsbury 2-1 on August 8 but since then have lost all three leage and cup encounters at the Den before stopping the rot last time out with a stalemate at Scunthorpe.
In terms of personnel, earlier this week they added experienced utility man Carlos Edwards to their ranks following his return from injury and he may well feature against the Spireites.
Boss Neil Harris said of the 36-year-old: “It’s been a long and hard recovery for Carlos after what was a nasty injury.
“I‘m delighted that he has committed himself to us in the immediate short-term after proving his fitness levels.”
In terms of recent meetings, this is the first encounter between the two clubs in eight years.
Last time out, back in the 2006/07 season, Millwall ran out 2-1 winners with Darren Byfield and Poul Hubertz sandwiching a Paul Hall strike.
Earlier in that campaign though, the Spireites hammered the Lions 5-1 with Hall and Wayne Allison grabbing braces before Caleb Folan netted a fifth.
Betting-wise, Ladbrokes have Saunders’ men as 2/1 outsiders while the hosts are chalked up as 31/20 with BetVictor.
