Shrewsbury Town 0, Chesterfield 0

League Two table toppers Chesterfield FC maintained their challenge for the title by gaining a point and keeping a clean sheet against promotion-rivals Shrewsbury.

And John Sheridan’s men could have taken all three points following a set up by Jack Lester in the 86th minute.

The chance fell to striker Dean Smaller but from inside the six-yard box, he aimed too high and the ball flew over the bar.

Manchester City loanee Javan Vidal made his debut for the Spireites at right back and showed plenty of promise.
