Keith Hill says the capture of Lee Novak is a major signing for Chesterfield ahead of Rochdale’s visit to the Proact Stadium.

The striker joins the Spireites on a season long loan from Birmingham City and is set for his home debut when the two teams go head to head on Saturday.

“I think they’re a good team and they’ve got excellent players,” said Hill on Dean Saunders’ Chesterfield.

“They’ve sold a lot of players for a lot of money and it looks like Dean has invested in experience.

“He had already brought in Angel Martinez and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, and this week he has brought in Lee Novak from Birmingham, which is a major signing in League One.”

Hill added: “They’ve essentially still got the same frame work. Dean might beg to differ, but they’ve got a similar framework, they work in a similar style and they’ve had two really, really good results. They were a bit unfortunate against Sheffield United, so they’re finding their feet again.

“They’ve got good players and they’re a good team. It should be a difficult fixture but one we’re looking forward to.”
