Confident Chesterfield extended their unbeaten run to three matches after a 3-2 win over Rochdale at Spotland.
Spireites boss Danny Wilson kept faith with the same eleven that romped to a magnificent 7-1 victory over Shrewsbury last week and he was rewarded with another three points to take them further away from the drop zone in League One.
Jay O’Shea had put Chesterfield in to a first half lead but Ian Henderson levelled for the hosts on 58 minutes. Lee Novak got his tenth of the season to restore the Spireites’ lead before Sylvan Ebanks-Blake extended the advantage.
Rhys Bennett pulled one back for Dale late on to set up a nervy finish but Chesterfield held firm to move five points away from fourth-from-bottom Blackpool, who lost 1-0 at home to Port Vale.
