Chesterfield are believed to be considering a bid for Chester City striker Jordan Archer.
Derbyshire Times sources suggest that the 24-year-old with a five-figure price tag is a potential transfer target for the Spireites.
He only joined Chester last October and scored four goals in 19 appearances, 11 of which were starts.
His contract at the Swansway Chester Stadium is due to run out in 2019.
On Saturday he played against Liverpool in a pre-season friendly and after the game joint Chester boss Anthony Johnson said: “We don’t know how long he is going to be at the club for in the sense of there is interest.”
Archerwas tipped by former Chester boss Marcus Bignot for a future move to the Football League.
Before the move to Chester he featured for Stourbridge, scoring 22 goals in 51 appearances and earned a week’s trial with Walsall during the 2017 pre-season.
