A Sam Togwell goal in the 90th minute rescued a point for play-off chasing Chesterfield the last time Bradford City were in town in April 2013.
The Spireites twice came from behind after Nahki Wells and Ricky Ravenhill scored either side of Tendayi Darikwa’s strike to rescue a point for Paul Cook’s men.
While Chesterfield would eventually miss out on a top seven spot and a place in the end of season play-offs, the Bantams overcame Northampton Town in the final at Wembley.
The much-coveted striker, Wells, has since left for pastures new, signing for Huddersfield Town in January of this year for an undisclosed club record fee.
But James Hanson, who scored 15 that promotion season including one in the play-off final win over Northampton, remains at the club and has five to his name this time around.
Tommy Lee, Tendayi Darikwa, Jay O’Shea, Armand Gnanduillet and Drew Talbot all started for the Spireites on that day.
