He missed out against Colchester United midweek but was used as a second half substitute at the Banks’s Stadium in the loss to Walsall.

Roberts, who played more than 40 times for Swindon during the 2012/13 season, will be given time to recover fully from his injury.

Dan Gardner and Oscar Gobern, on loan from Huddersfield Town, were the only changes to the Chesterfield side on Saturday.

Paul Cook, the Spireites manager, changed formations as his set his side up in a 4-1-4-1 with Gobern in front of the back four.

The Chesterfield boss is keen to make home advantage count as his side look to put an end to the slide and pick up some points.

Spireites have won just once in their last eight League One games - a 3-2 victory over rivals Sheffield United at home.

Whereas Tuesday night’s opponents Swindon, one place up from Chesterfield in the table, have won just once from five games.

Robins, managed by Mark Cooper, were held at home to Colchester on Saturday in a game which saw Michael Smith bag a brace.
