With the year drawing to a close, today we look back at some of the glory days for Spireites’ fans in recent times.
Our pictures show the club’s memorable Johnstone Paint Trophy success in 2012.
John Sheridan’s men overcame Notts County, Tranmere and Preston en route to meeting Oldham in the area two-legged final.
A 3-1 aggregate victory over the Latics ensured Sheridan’s troops made the trip to Wembley to face Swindon.
A tough affair saw the Spireites seal victory on a memorable day in front of a near-50,000 crowd thanks to an Oliver Risser own goal and Craig Westcarr’s late second.
That was Chesterfield’s maiden Wembley success and followed the season when they won League Two as champions.
There was to be more league success this time under Paul Cook in 2013-14 as the Spireites sealed the title by three points.
Unfortunately the team couldn’t cap off a memorable campaign as they were edged out 3-1 by Peterborough in the JP Final.
