Ian Evatt is set for a return to the Proact Stadium next season, in charge of one of Chesterfield’s new National League rivals.
The 36-year-old has been confirmed as Barrow’s new manager.
Evatt is expected to retire from playing, after an 18-year career that took him all the way to the Premier League.
He got his first taste of management with the Spireites last term, taking over as caretaker boss when Jack Lester departed.
Barrow have been without a manager for a month since Ady Pennock announced his exit.
Around 25 candidates applied for the role, before it was whittled down to a shortlist of six, of which Evatt came out on top.
