Experienced defender Dean Holden has joined Chesterfield FC on contract until the end of the season.
Holden (31) was a a free agent after his contract with Shrewsbury Town was cancelled by mutual consent on January 31.
He has previously been with Spireites manager John Sheridan at Oldham and has had spells with Peterborough United and Falkirk and was on loan earlier this season at Rotherham United.
Holden, who has one Northern Ireland international cap, said: “I am delighted to be joining Chesterfield and am very keen to play my part in helping the side achieve promotion.”
Sheridan said: “Dean is an experienced professional who is joining us at a very busy time of the season. You can never be sure how many injuries could disrupt our promotion push so his addition to the squad will provide useful further options as and when they are needed.”
