The Irishman found the net in both Saturday’s FA Cup win over Colchester and Tuesday’s 2-0 EFL Trophy triumph at Crewe.

After O’Shea had opened the scoring, Connor Dimaio converted from the spot to send the Spireites into the knockout stage of the trophy.

Having lost seven games on the spin before the Colchester game, O’Shea wants Chesterfield to reverse their fortunes.

“Teams go on runs like that, that’s football,” admitted O’Shea, who ended the Spireites 502-minute goalless drought on Saturday.

“Hopefully we’ve got ours out of the way early on in the season.

“Hopefully we can kick on now and possibly go on a run the other way.”
