First outing for Dutch ace Esajas

Dutch triallist Etienne Esajas had his first outing with Chesterfield FC on Tuesday when the Spireites reserve side defeated Oldham 1-0 in a Central League clash.

Esajas, 27, has been training with Tommy Wright’s men for a week but needs additional games to boost his match fitness before he can be considered for first-team action.

The Amsterdam-born left sided midfielder made his reputation with Sheffield Wednesday, for whom he made 60 appearances and scored five goals, but he has been a free agent since May when his contract with Swindon Town was cancelled by mutual consent.

Reserve side chief Mark Crossley was pleased with the result - the team’s third straight win - and said the Dutchman demonstrated his ability on the left.
