Ex Spireites player, coach and caretaker boss set for Ironman test

Ritchie Humphreys will complete his transition from footballer to Ironman this weekend.

The former Chesterfield FC player, coach and caretaker boss has been training hard since retiring from football.

He tweeted: “After 23 years of playing professional sport I always knew that I would love to stay active so I embarked on my journey to go from footballer to Ironman.

“On Sunday 15th July I will be taking on IronmanUK in Bolton.”

The gruelling triathlon consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run.

Humphreys, 40, is raising funds for two charities; Alzheimer’s Society and Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

As a Spireite hewon the League Two title and reached the EFL Trophy final, as well as fulfilling the chairman role at the PFA, where he now works in a full-time capacity.
