The Derbyshire Times understands that Gerry McDonagh, released by Forest at the end of the season, and Rams striker Lewis Walker are the two forwards who trained with the Spireites this week.

While McDonagh is looking for a new club, Walker would be a potential loan signing for Town.

Irishman McDonagh spent nine years with Forest and made just one senior appearance for the club.

The 20-year-old went out on loan to Wrexham, Cambridge United and Tranmere in the past two seasons, picking up National League and League Two experience.

Walker, the 19-year-old son of former England international Des, signed for Derby County from Ilkeston in 2016.

He spent time on loan with National League North side Darlington.
