Davies up for top award

Craig Davies has been nominated for the Goal of the Season award.

The Spireites leading marksman, who has found the net 15 times this season, has been put forward for the cracker he scored in the 4-3 home triumph over Shrewsbury in October.

Described by the Derbyshire Times as ‘a thunderbolt’ and ‘a spectacular shot from outside the penalty area’, Davies’s magnificent effort was immediately identified as a goal of the season contender.

It has been included in the top ten strikes of 2010 from Football League competitions from the Championship downwards.

The ten contenders were revealed on Soccer Am, Sky TV’s Saturday morning football programme.

And Blues fans can help Davies win the No 1 spot by voting for him via the Soccer Am website. Deadline for voting is next Tuesday.

Davies has proved a big hit since he moved to the B2net Stadium during the summer and his great form saw him win the npower League Two Player of the Month award accolade for November.
