CHESTERFIELD: Tommy Wright pinpoints ideal opportunity for Spireites to call the Shots

IT’LL be two wounded tigers coming together at the Recreation Ground tomorrow.

Spireites became the first team to lose at Morecambe this season on Tuesday night whilst Aldershot Town really blew it.

They led 3-0 at Torquay United thanks to a Craig Reid hat-trick, but the Gulls fought back and nicked the game 4-3.

The Shots have also failed to score in three of their last four home games making this an ideal type of game for Tommy Wright’s team to bounce back in.

Wright reflected back on the loss in midweek saying: “We’ve got to learn that we need to play for 90 minutes rather than the first 40 when we did play well at Morecambe.

“We got in some great positions but the final ball let us down.”

Looking forward to the long weekend trip he said: “It’ll probably be a similar start to Morecambe after their loss. Morecambe we a little bit nervous at first and if we’d scored first it would have made a massive difference to the game.

“I think that will be the case on Saturday. If we start well and get the first goal it will be a massive boost to our bid to go on and win the game. They’re similar to Morecambe, play a 4-3-3 and they have some decent players even though it’s not going great for them at the moment.”

Danny Whitaker felt the groin injury he’d been suffering after the game and Sam Hird picked up a facial knock at the Globe Arena, but both should be fit to travel to Hampshire.

Wright doesn’t expect any new faces ahead of the weekend to add to his squad, that despite the midweek disappointment, have lost just once in 10 games.
